Welcome

Before I describe what I write about, I would like to make a disclaimer: I do not write to make friends or to be liked. I write because there are some things I have discovered and learned over the years as a researcher which I think could be beneficial to the reader and the world around us. What I write is not meant to make the reader feel nice — nor, of course, to feel bad. My writing is more like working out: occasionally, it may make the reader feel uncomfortable or face things the reader does not want to face. However, like working out, the effect of my writing — granted that it is read attentively and reflectively — can have great positive results in one's life.

What I write about

One thing I have discovered over the years is that life can be very beautiful and, for most people, a lot better than it is today. Not without effort, though! This can be achieved by transforming oneself, one's society, and one's health. My writings, primarily, are about that transformation, hopefully enabling the reader to live a beautiful and interesting real life — as opposed to a boring, digital one.

Some of the things that I cover in my writings, among others, are the following:

  • The alienation and the harm that today’s culture and structure of society cause to the human being — physically, mentally, emotionally, behaviourally, sexually

  • The predominance of what I call homo specialis (that is to say, the extensive specialisation that characterises today’s knowledge) and the fading of homo universalis

  • The vast economic inequality that characterises many countries around the world, along with its many consequences on people's lives and well-being

  • The climate change that our planet is going through, its consequences, and the general disconnection between humans and nature1

  • The increasing technological and digital transformation of modern life and society and the effects of that transformation

  • The false notion that “There Is No Alternative”, also known as TINA, which makes people accept things they do not truly like and prefer, only because they believe there is no better way

I think alternatives exist and through my work I try to show that this is true as well as how they could be actualised.

What to read first

When people ask me which piece of mine should they read first, I usually suggest to them to browse through my work and pick anything that captures their interest. However, if I had to recommend one specific writing, I would probably recommend my article entitled The Art of Reading, a guide that I wrote in 2019 about how to read a text in a way that the reader would make the most out of it. On top of that, On Reading Philosophy and Towards a Better Future may also be good introductory readings.

I write about climate change mostly from a sociological/philosophical perspective, since, as I like to put it, as long as climate science has established there is a human-made environmental problem, the problem is not environmental anymore.
