Over the last decade, a big part of my work has been about the following two things:

i) assess the value of what is commonly valued and pursued in life

ii) find better alternatives to what is commonly valued, in case what is commonly valued turns out to be vain or even harmful (to the individual, the rest of people, and the environment)

As far as the first thing is concerned, we first need to see what people usually value and pursue in their lives. What I have discovered is that people usually pursue the following:

  • money-material wealth

  • fame-admiration-external validation

  • domination-superiority over other people

  • easy and immediate pleasures

I have assessed those things to be relatively worthless. To put it differently, a life that is spent on the pursuit of money, fame, power, and immediate pleasures is a limited and limiting life. Life, I have discovered through various ways, can be a lot more meaningful and richer.

But if those things are worthless, what is the alternative and how can it be achieved?
