I.
Happiness, in its strict sense, is the satisfaction of our needs and desires. In other words, when our needs and desires get satisfied, we feel happy. That satisfaction, however, very often depends on factors which are outside of our control. Chance and luck, therefore, seem to be main elements of happiness. The word itself, in fact, connotes that: happ-iness or, ‘ef-tychia’ [ευ-τυχία] in Greek, which means good fortune.
