Defining postmodernism is not easy. I am not even sure if I should use that word to refer to what I have in mind. However, if we approach the word postmodernism etymologically, then we see that it is a word that is defined negatively; namely, in terms of what postmodernism is not. Post–modernism, as the word itself indicates, is no longer modernism, after modernism, beyond modernism. In other words, many of the ideas and ways of living which were predominant in the era of modernity are fading away and, increasingly, they are not considered valid anymore.
